The American Legion and The American Legion Auxiliary sponsor the Boys and Girls State programs respectively. Both programs are a unique way for young men and women to learn about the American system of government and politics by participating in a mock governmental system.

In 2026, Post 53 and the Post 53 Auxiliary, along with the help of our local benefactors, was able to send 19 Boys and 5 Girls from local high schools to attend Boys and Girls State Programs at no cost to them or their parents.
